Medical Oncology

Medical oncology is the area of medicine focused on diagnosing, treating and managing cancer. A doctor who specialises in cancer treatment and care is called a medical oncologist.

Medical oncologists work closely with other specialists, including surgeons, radiation oncologists, nurses and allied health professionals, to develop personalised treatment plans and provide coordinated care throughout your cancer journey.

If you are diagnosed with cancer, our team will work with you to plan and coordinate your treatment. Treatment may include chemotherapy, immunotherapy, targeted therapies or other medications, depending on your diagnosis and individual needs.

We provide care through:

• Day Unit services: Where patients receive chemotherapy and other cancer treatments, as well as care for treatment-related complications.
• Acute inpatient services: For cancer treatment, monitoring or management of complications associated with cancer or its treatment.
